I am both a coach as well as a licensed mental health professional, however coaching and psychotherapy are two distinct professions. Psychotherapy typically looks more at a person’s past, family of origin, early experiences, and maybe even previous traumas.
While both therapy and coaching may also involve behavioral interventions and strategies to increase motivation, coaching tends to focus more on moving forward than on going backward. Coaching can also be more directive and involves less processing of painful past experiences. In coaching, we focus on goals and follow through with action plans with specific personal and/or professional projects.
Common areas of focus with Amanda's coaching services include: mindfulness and/or meditation coaching, stress reduction, relationships, communication, boundaries, assertiveness, focus and motivation.
Coaching can be accomplished in person, via video, or phone.
