Optional gentle yoga sessions will be held each morning to aid in deepening your experience. Added bonus: Some of our sessions will be held outside, weather permitting. And don’t worry, you will have ample free time to enjoy the Jekyll Island Club amenities as well as well as explore the island at large (think fresh seafood, long bike rides, an afternoon at the spa, Driftwood Beach and more!) Already have a favorite spot on Jekyll where you would prefer to stay? That's completely fine! You can simply join us for our sessions and enjoy the Jekyll Island Club as you wish.
Have you always thought you would get around to learning to meditate someday? When the children are grown? When you retire? Why not now! 🙌 🌟 🙌
The benefits of meditation are endless. At the retreat, you will begin to experience improved mood, sleep, and ability to focus. Harvard Medical School writes, "One of the easiest and most achievable stress-relieving techniques is meditation, a program in which you focus your attention inward to induce a state of deep relaxation." A big misconception about meditation is that it takes a lot of time, but ACTUALLY you can benefit from meditation in as little as 2-5 minutes. You will be practicing both short and longer meditations in order to find what works best for your current stage of life.
Another misconception about meditation is that you have to make your mind completely still and have no thoughts. The truth is, you will have MANY thoughts. The key is *observing* the thoughts without judgement, helping you throughout the rest of your day to focus, be more present, and not get pulled this way and that by distracting or distressing thoughts.
Our learning sessions will inspire a commitment to prioritizing wellbeing as you will begin to grow your confidence with meditation. In addition, there will be a session where I will help you develop a plan for success, increasing the chances that you will continue to practice meditation as well as informal mindfulness regularly after the retreat.
